CalRENEW-1: The World's Most Advanced PV Solar Facility

Cleantech America’s 5 megawatt (MW) solar farm, CalRENEW-1, will be the largest solar farm in California providing emission-free photovoltaic (PV) solar electricity to an investor-owned utility. The project will be one of the most advanced photovoltaic solar facilities in the world; it will utilize a variety of exciting PV technologies. Unlike solar thermal, PV emits no greenhouse gases or other pollutants.

Scheduled to begin operation in the spring of 2009 in Mendota, CA, CalRENEW-1 will sell electricity to Pacific Gas & Electric under a long-term power purchase agreement. The solar farm will help California meet its stringent renewable energy and carbon reduction goals. It will also place Cleantech America, Inc. in the forefront of renewable energy developers nationwide. In addition, it will provide the firm with a leadership position to take advantage of the anticipated rapid growth in PV solar and other renewable technologies during the next decade.

Regional leaders expect CalRENEW-1 to be a magnet for renewable energy economic development and jobs creation. Cleantech America has already received numerous inquiries and expressions of interest from solar and renewable industry leaders regarding economic development potential in proximity to the facility. The innovative project will also generate significant clean air benefits for residents of Fresno County.
