Cleantech America Inc. Names Mark Stout Director of Renewable Technology Planning

03.03.2008: (SAN FRANCISCO --) Cleantech America, Inc. has named Mark Stout Director of Renewable Technology Planning. Stout will analyze the convergence of site-specific geographical data, natural resources, available technology and political and regulatory environments to identify new opportunities for the San Francisco-based company to develop renewable energy projects across a variety of technologies and regions, said Cleantech America, Inc. CEO Bill Barnes.

Stout joined Cleantech America, Inc. in 2006 and was instrumental in helping the company win California Public Utilities Commission approval for its CalRENEW-1 project with PG&E. The project is currently the largest utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar contract to obtain regulatory approval under the state’s Renewables Portfolio Standard program.

“Very large scale PV solar clearly has an important role to play in helping innovative utilities like PG&E meet California’s ambitious renewable energy goals. Mark has helped us demonstrate that utility-scale solar is a reliable, deliverable, in-grid technology that can be rapidly permitted and put to work delivering peak, emission-free electricity where it is most needed,” said Barnes. “We are looking to him to provide continued leadership as we expand our renewable power portfolio.”

Stout is also helping Cleantech America, Inc. play a leadership role in creating green collar jobs and in promoting worker re-education. He currently chairs the Innovative Energy Cluster of the Fresno Regional Jobs Initiative, which has as its goal generating 30,000 new jobs, and serves on the board of the Central Valley Business Incubator, designed to establish California’s Central Valley as a world leader in energy and water innovation.

A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois - Urbana electrical engineering program, Stout holds a master’s degree in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley. He has advocated for and worked in the renewable energy industry for the past decade.

Cleantech America, Inc.’s primary business is development of utility-scale clean energy alternatives for sale to utilities, municipalities and other customers. For more information call (415) 277-5455.
