Chief Executive Officer
Cleantech America founder and CEO Bill Barnes specializes in managing diverse teams of professionals to site, license and finance complex industrial projects, focusing on energy and renewable energy generation, waste reduction and manufacturing facilities. He has more than 20 years of experience in award-winning strategic communications, regulatory issues management, and stakeholder relations for clients in energy, financial services and municipal government.
Mr. Barnes is the former CEO and president of the San Francisco-based Barnes Clarke Inc., one of California's largest independent government affairs and marketing communications firms. He is a former political editor of the San Francisco Examiner/Chronicle, and a former editor of Time magazine.
He is co-founder, with Joan Barnes, of the Gymboree Corporation, and has participated in the start-up of successful companies in the energy and technology industry.
