Jim Madden
Board Member

Cleantech America, Inc. Board Member James S. Madden has 35 years experience in finance and real estate investment. He began his career in the Northwestern Mutual Real Estate office in San Francisco handling direct and joint venture investments in a wide variety of property types throughout the western U.S. He subsequently joined Genstar, a Canadian diversified operating company, as U.S. Treasurer. In that role, he helped guide Genstar's U.S. presence grow from under $200 million to over $2.0 billion. Mr. Madden then transferred into Genstar's Real Estate Joint division and managed $50 million in equity investments which totaled $250 million in assets under development.

In 1982, he briefly formed his own firm specializing in real estate equity finance and business consulting. He subsequently joined a client, Paul F. Klapper, in a variety of real estate and business investments. He is currently co-manager with Mr. Klapper of three private equity investment LLCs focusing on early stage companies.

Mr. Madden holds an A.B. degree from Stanford University in Economics, and an M.S. in Finance from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.
